Use the story outline below to help you write your story. The outline is just a guide and you don’t necessarily need to follow it completely.
STORY OUTLINE
- Holmes and Watson are at home at 221B Baker Street.
- Holmes and Watson are visited by a person who needs Holmes’s help in solving a case.
- Holmes looks at the client and surprises the client by telling him or her things about the client’s life (i.e. I see you are a left handed teacher from America). Holmes then explains how he figured out these things.
- The client tells Holmes about the case.
- Holmes asks the client a few questions to make sure he has all the details about the case.
- Holmes, possibly with Watson, begins investigating the case.
- Holmes collects clues to help solve the mystery. He might interview people or interrogate a suspect. This is the center of your story.
- Watson can tell that Holmes is on the right track to solving the case. Watson can’t figure it out himself.
- Holmes solves the case. If there is a crime involved, Holmes helps catch the criminal. He may have assistance from Scotland Yard.
- Holmes tells Watson how he solved the case.
